So, the Corcoran is one of the “not free” museums in town but it is oh, so worth visiting! I saw the Andy Warhol show there not too long ago and will certainly head over to check out the latest exhibits which feature two of my favorite photographers, Annie Leibovotz and Ansel Adams. You could even consider this a buy-one-get-one since either of these artists would be worth the price of admission! Admission to the special exhibits at the museum is regularly $14.00. Students with ID, $10.00.
Annie Leibovitz’s exhibit featuring works from 1990-2005 runs through January 13th, 2008 and Ansel Adams’ exhibit features over 125 of his photographs and runs through January 27th. The Gallery is only open late on Thursday nights, ‘til 9:00pm. Regular hours are 10:00am – 5:00pm every day except Tuesday, when they are closed.
The Corcoran Gallery of Art is located on 17th Street a few blocks south of Pennsylvania Avenue at 500 17th St, NW. The closest metro is Farragut West but it’s still a bit of a walk from there.

Please consult their website to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member, which may be worth it if you plan to go more than a few times a year. For some people, like my brother, who happens to be a photographer and visits often, a membership may be the best way to go.
