Not a whole lot of ongoing events on Saturday nights as you can imagine....
You can always check out The Kennedy Center free shows at 6:00 or perhaps you can get same day discount tickets on site, I know they used to offer half price for students same day. I haven't been a student for a while, it's worth looking into.
If you want a more chill Saturday eve...head to a bookstore and hang out. I must confess that this is one of my favorite things to do. Sat eves tend to be overly crowded and noisy at the spots I tend to frequent, so if I'm not busy doing something else, a bookstore is always a great chic and free place to be if you ask me, also a nice place to chill out with some tea for nights when you just don't feel like partying.
There are two Barnes and Noble locations in the area open 'til 11:00pm on Sat eves. In DC, Georgetown and in Northern VA, Clarendon.
For more active location I'd suggest Kramerbooks (no seating there though they do have a bar and restaurant attached). They're in Dupont Circle, just south of Q on Conn Ave, and open 24 hours on weekends!
Monthly...
There is the once a month "SoulFire" event in Takoma Park. I believe that they still hold this more creative dance and drumming event on the Second Saturday of the month from 8:00pm-11:00pm. I have been there once and it felt more like San Francisco than DC with a bit of a hippie, new age and burning man vibe. Soul Fire Inside Drum & Dance events centered around conscious community building. Seekers Church, 276 Carroll St. NW Takoma DC. $10 suggested donation. Very close to the Takoma Metro.
